WHY AGE 7?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children receive their first orthodontic evaluation around age 7. At this age, enough permanent teeth have erupted for an orthodontist to evaluate how the teeth and jaws are developing and identify concerns that may benefit from monitoring or early treatment.
An early evaluation does not always mean early treatment. In many cases, we will simply continue to monitor your child’s growth and development with complimentary observation visits.
What Happens at the Complimentary Evaluation?
Our team will take a look at your child’s teeth, bite, and jaw development. We’ll explain what we see, answer your questions, and let you know whether your child would benefit from treatment or should simply be monitored as they grow.
If they are not ready for treatment, they may be added to our observation program and invited back approximately every six months for a complimentary smile check.
TURNING 7?
IT’S TIME TO GRADUATE!
Once you turn 7, it’s time to graduate from the Kids Club! You’ve kept your smile healthy, and now it’s time for your first orthodontic evaluation.
We’ll do the first official exam to see if you’ll need treatment to straighten your teeth. Don’t worry, though — you won’t be leaving the office in braces or clear aligners just yet! Dr. Alba or Dr. Jeff will give you a game plan to help you get started.

Who can join?
Children under age 7 may join the Alba Kids Club.
Does it cost anything?
No. The Alba Kids Club is completely free.
Does my child need to be a current patient?
No. Your child does not need to be a current Alba Orthodontics patient to join.
How will we receive Kids Club updates?
We may send updates and event information by email, text, or mail using the contact information provided during enrollment.
What happens when my child turns 7?
They will graduate from the Kids Club and receive an invitation to schedule a complimentary orthodontic evaluation.
Does an evaluation mean my child will need braces?
Not necessarily. The purpose of the evaluation is to check your child’s growth and development. Many children are simply monitored until the timing is right.
