The Clear Aligner Process

A clear aligner system is made of clear, lightweight plastic aligners that fit over your teeth and are designed to straighten your smile. They’re removable, making it easier to eat, drink, brush and floss.

Clear aligners are much more comfortable than traditional metal bracket braces and Dr. Fred Alba and Dr. Jeff Alba can give you stunning results. Getting started with clear aligner treatment at Alba Orthodontics is easy.

We use our high-tech digital scanner to take 3D images of your teeth and avoid the usual messy impressions most providers use. These scans provide a more accurate image of your teeth and we’ll also take photographs and X-rays.

Based on Dr. Alba's diagnosis and treatment plan, Spark™ then creates a series of clear, removable aligners that move the teeth gradually into position. You’ll even start to notice a change in just a few months!

You wear the trays for about 22 hours a day but can remove them to brush your teeth and eat. You’ll probably wear your aligners for 9–15 months and typically use 18–30 sets during your treatment.

Benefits of Clear Aligners for Teens

Stay Safe and Healthy with Clear Aligners During COVID-19

Almost Invisible, Easily Removable

Clear aligners are made of clear, lightweight plastic and almost invisible. Your friends probably won’t even know you’re wearing them. Instead of sporting metal braces, clear aligner patients at Alba Orthodontics enjoy the confidence of showing off their smiles every day.

You probably have friends with braces around Mechanicsburg who aren’t allowed to chew gum or eat certain foods like popcorn and whole apples. Your clear aligners are completely removable, which means you can eat all of your favorite foods whenever you want.

This also means you can easily keep brushing and flossing as you normally would for proper oral hygiene. Try that with braces.

Perfect for Busy Schedules

Treatment with clear aligners is ideal for busy parents around Mechanicsburg because there are never any emergency appointments to fix broken wires or brackets.

Clear aligners tend to require fewer and less frequent appointments than traditional braces because you get your clear aligners in advance. The typical clear patient visits Alba Orthodontics once every eight weeks for a total average treatment time of 9 to 15 months.

Mechanicsburg Braces

Great for Active Teens

As a teenager, you should be able to participate in the activities you’re interested in while still having the confidence to attend social events and make lasting memories. You should also be able to get efficient orthodontic treatment for crowded teeth, uneven spacing, and bite issues.

Clear aligners are an ideal choice for teens in Mechanicsburg who play sports, certain instruments or are worried about how metal braces will look at homecoming in the yearbook.

And since they straighten teeth the same way metal braces do, you’ll still love your results.

With the comfortable technology of clear aligners, and Dr. Jeff Alba and Dr. Fred Alba’s expert care, teens can keep being themselves and love their smiles even more. At your first consultation with Dr. Alba, you’ll find out if clear aligners fit your smile and lifestyle!

Differences Between Clear Aligners & Braces

Unlike traditional braces, smooth plastic clear aligners don't have metal components that can irritate your mouth. Because they’re removed when you eat, you won't have to watch what you eat like you would when wearing braces – bring on the popcorn and peanuts.

In fact, the aligners must be removed for eating and for drinking anything other than water. You need to make sure you’re willing to do that before you decide on clear aligners.

To prevent staining, you’ll need to clean your teeth before putting the aligners back on after you eat. Of course, brushing and flossing are much easier than with traditional braces, since you don’t have to work around any brackets and wires.

Accelerate Your Treatment

Clear aligners work efficiently by themselves, but Acceledent technology can speed up tooth movement by up to 50%.

You can add Acceledent to your clear aligner treatment at any time. You use the 20-minutes a day and it used gentle vibrations to stimulate the bones in your jaw so your teeth can more quickly.

The device doesn’t cause any discomfort, but you’ll get to see your beautiful smile appear in no time. This is a great addition to orthodontic treatment if you're anticipating a future big event (like a wedding) or if you just can't wait to see a beautiful smile on your face.

Aligner Responsibilities

It’s important to wear your aligners for at least 22 hours each day, as recommended by Dr. Alba, so they can do their job and straighten your teeth. But, with Spark, you can remove your aligner trays for any special occasion.

Like with traditional braces, you’ll generally need to wear a retainer after clear aligner treatment to maintain your new alignment—and your confident new smile.
